My name is Troy Stepp, owner/operator of The VanderSpa in North Texas. When you call, you talk to me directly. No middleman, no helpdesk...and that is by design - to bring you the kind of world-class attention you need.

When I bought my first Vanderhall, I had no idea how many unanswered questions would come with it: torque steer, alignment issues, funny noises, lackluster dealer support.

As a lifelong motorsports enthusiast and hands-on engineer, I dove in. What started as optimization of my own machine quickly became a mission to help others do the same.

At The VanderSpa, we are 3rd and 4th generation car lovers with a deep passion for high-performance and the inherent safety it brings.

I run the shop, supported by my sons Devin and Ashton (an ASE Certified Master Technician) and together we bring decades of experience in motor racing, modern vehicle systems diagnostics, and precision performance tuning.

What started in our North Texas home's detached (but secure) shop has become a trusted boutique facility serving clients from all over the country. Every upgrade we offer was curated through first-hand knowledge, not guesswork!

the making of a world-class vanderhall shop

The VanderSpa is your boutique Vanderhall AutoCycle specialist, based in Denton, Texas. Founded by automotive performance enthusiast Troy D. Stepp, The VanderSpa was born from a deep passion for optimizing and personalizing these unique

three-wheeled vehicles.

Troy’s journey into the automotive performance world began with championship-winning Kart road-racing in the early 2000's, leading him to lean into the study of full-sized sports car driving, and eventually being invited to instruct at high-performance driving events across the South-Central U.S.

His extensive background as a third-generation mechanic and 26-year entrepreneur laid the groundwork for The VanderSpa to swiftly grow into THE trusted and respected resource for Vanderhall owners worldwide.

How It Started

Troy's early enthusiasm for the road ALSO involved 2 Wheeled motorcycles. He's owned a 1987 CBR600F1 "Hurricane", 1991 & 1996 Honda VFR-750F's, a Honda Shadow 750, a Honda ST1300 "Pan American", and a BMW K1600GTL. The last two were used for road trips with his supportive wife, Elizabeth.

Troy’s fascination with Vanderhalls began purely by chance during a "guys" motorcycle road trip through the Texas Hill Country. Spotting a sleek, retro-inspired machine in a hotel parking lot, he was immediately captivated by its open-wheeled, racecar aesthetic. He imagined that his wife would probably appreciate that type of fun a bit more than their spirited "two-up" miles on two wheels. Later, after renting a friend’s Vanderhall Blackjack for a day-date with Elizabeth, they were hooked! They soon sold that big lovely Beemer, purchased a barely-used 2019 Venice GT and immersed themselves in the VanderWorld.

As Troy began making performance and reliability improvements to their own Vanderhall, fellow owners took notice. What started as friendly conversational advice quickly evolved into hands-on assistance and technical support for local enthusiasts. The word spread, and Troy’s reputation as a go-to technical expert in the regional Vanderhall scene grew.

Troy often says: “There’s no such thing as too much information.” In keeping with that theme, he firmly believes in "collaboration over competition" and embraces the growing network of other seasoned subject matter experts within the Vanderhall community. The VanderSpa actively pursues partnerships and connections with like-minded and specialists and enthusiasts, working together to elevate the ownership experience for everyone invested in the brand.

Safety Above All

A passionate advocate for safety, Troy emphasizes the importance of developing proper driving skills and utilizing protective gear. This commitment was reinforced by a personal rollover incident in his own Vanderhall in 2024. Despite laws not requiring helmets in all states, he urges all passengers to wear full-face helmets and approach these vehicles with the mindset and respect they demand.
